Welcome to Kerong Cottage. "Kerong Cottage" was built by Matthew Longwill in 1857 on land which at that time was still part of New South Wales (Queensland was not declared a separate State till 1859). As an architect/stonemason, Matthew Longwill's name appears in connection with several of Warwick's oldest buildings including the Town Hall. A copy of this original 1857 land title grant is on display in "Kerong Cottage", along with an interesting list of all the owners down through her 150 years. |

Original pressed metal ceiling and cosy open fireplace provide the charm and comfort of yesteryear. |

More of Kerong's history ... Mary Dau, Warwick's very famous artist owned "Kerong" for ten years (1974-84). Mary's passion was to record ink sketches of the important historic buildings of Warwick, and prints of her drawings of "Kerong Cottage" and "Pringle Cottage" (now the Warwick Museum) hang in "Kerong". "Pringle Cottage", just a couple of streets away, has a very interesting history of its own, being built c1870 and for many years a private school. |

Warwick hosts some wonderful events each year ... Including the Warwick Rodeo in October (Australia's oldest rodeo first held in 1888). Great Jazz bands play here during Jumpers and Jazz in July. There are horse events, blues festival and car racing at Morgan Park. You will always find more places and events to enjoy, and with Warwick's location so central to Queen Mary Falls, Leslie Dam, Allora, Stanthorpe and the wineries, a stopover in Warwick has something for everyone. Enjoy a bit of R & R in one of the private garden spaces at "Kerong", or simply curl up with a book in front of your own cosy open fire. |

|
There's a lovely courtyard outlook from The Nursery, but families will find some fun entertainment for the littlies. |
